Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in Japan) is a ten years old kid who dreams of becoming a Pokémon master. His journey began fulfilling his dreams in the world of Pokémon. On the day to receive his first Pokémon left with its Pikachu, a monster with unique electric powers. During their journey, Pikachu never let his trainer guide him and to show his stubbornness for not returning to his Pokéball. But as Ash protects Pikachu from a group of angry Spearow that realizes how much Ash cares for him, leading it to save Ash. On that day, both face mysterious and unidentifiable Pokémon that pushes both of them to work towards on Ash goal.
The Pokémon Trainers have three general goals 1) to complete the regional Pokédex by collecting all of the available Pokémon species found in the fictional region where a game takes place, 2) to complete the national Pokédex by transferring Pokémon from other regions, and 3) to train a team of powerful Pokémon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers so they may win the Pokémon League and become the Champion. These collecting, battling and training are present in every version of the Pokémon franchise including the video games, the anime, manga series, and in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
